Radioactive risk on metallurgical sites

The operation of metallurgical sites imposes a number of standards relating to the use of by-products subject to NORM and TENORM rules. The annual report submitted to the authorities by plant operators should include, where applicable : - a summary of acceptability studies carried out during the year ; - a justification of compliance with acceptability criteria for these wastes, taking into account any cumulative effect; - a summary of waste actually received during the year (quantities, characteristics, etc.); - the number of gantry activations relating to waste that has undergone a radiological impact assessment and been accepted at the center.
